FECC ANNOUNCES ITS COMMITMENT TO SUPPORT THE SUPPLY CONTINUITY OF KEY SUBSTANCES TO THE MARKET AS PARTS OF ITS REACH 2018 REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN.

Brussels, 6 October 2016 - Since the entry into force of REACH, the Fecc (the European Association of Chemical Distributors) members have been committed to comply with their REACH registration obligations.

Proof of this is the active participation of Fecc in all the actions carried out by the Commission and ECHA in this regard, as well as the more than 150 substances registered by Fecc member companies in the 2010 and 2013 REACH registration deadlines.

For the 2018 registration deadline our commitment is potentially even bigger. Fecc members do not only commit to comply with their registration obligations as Importers or Only Representatives but, knowing the challenges to the continuity of supply to the market of some key substances for certain downstream sectors, Fecc member companies are willing to assess, on a case by case basis, a potential collaboration with Downstream Users to provide service and support to our customers and avoid, where suitable, disruptions in the supply chain by registering key orphan substances.

Conscious of the limited capacity of GLP laboratories to carry out the testing needed for the registration dossiers, and in order to increase possibilities for the collaboration to succeed, the Fecc Secretariat encourages the development of partnership and subsequent registration proposals as soon as possible, and ideally at the latest by 1 June 2017.
