Fecc – co-signatory of the Joint Statement on the future of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR)

6 Oct. 2026 - "Europe is better with biocides. It must do better for biocides" is the title of the Joint Statement on the future of the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR), co-signed by Fecc alongside 10 European sector associations. The Statement has been initiated by Detergents Europe following the BPR Associations Roundtable.

Biocides safeguard public health, water, food safety, and critical infrastructure. Yet with 50% of active substances lost since 2000 and authorisations taking over 7 years, Europe’s toolbox is shrinking.

Together, we call on EU policymakers for:

• A timely BPR revision before the end of this parliamentary term.
• A science-based, fully harmonised framework ensuring predictable market access.
• Proportionate rules to protect innovation, manufacturing, and supply resilience in Europe.
